Freecycle Bulletin Board Project

The walls in our stores are full of interesting products and samples. There's something to see everywhere you go ... except for the rest room. We love the cool flooring and the Baby Turtle paint on the walls, but the room is very utilitarian.

So I posted on Shelton Freecycle that I needed a bulletin board. It was in pretty bad shape (big hole, warping, dusty) but with a couple of days' work, some leftover paint, an 11 1/2" scalloped circle die from Accucut and some Glimmer Mist and now we have something beautiful to liven up the restroom. We even alcohol-inked some plain white thumbtacks to use with it!

More About Dumbledore

We are asked many questions about Dumbledore - here are some of the most frequent:
How old is he? He was two in January.

How much does he weigh? He's about 6lb 4oz - both my boys weighed more than that when they were born!

Is he a Teacup Yorkie? Dumble is full-sized, but there is no such breed as "Teacup Yorksire Terrier." For more information see the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America website (YTCA).

Where did you get Dumbledore? I bought him from a breeder I found through the YTCA. Breeders who belong to the Club have committed to the Club's code of ethics. I wanted to make sure I was dealing with a reputable dealer and not a puppy mill.

What's up with Dumble's nose? We believe that when Dumbledore was a baby, someone stoe his real nose and replaced with with a plastic nose. It is too perfect to be a "real" nose.

What's the scoop on Dumble's funky toes?
On his back right foot, his toes and claws curve away from each other instead of straight out. It was this supposed "flaw" that prevented him from becoming the show dog he was bred to be. It is our considered opinion that the reason funky-toed dogs are disqualified from being show dogs is that they are so superior in all other ways to ordinary dogs that it simply wouldn't be fair to the other dogs. (That's my story and I'm sticking to it.)

The ATC Spinner Project

I'd wanted to play with the ATC format (for a good explanation of ATCs, see Wikipedia) for a long time, so when 7 Gypsies came out with the rotating ATC Card Holder, I was ready!

I had a collection of funny and inspiring quotes I used to use as sig lines, which I printed in a variety of fonts. I also printed my favorite family photos as 1x1 or 1x2 images.

My plan was to play with techniques that I don't usually take time for when I'm scrapping, as well as to finally use a lot of the collagey embellishments that I've been collecting for years. We also have some cool products here at MOMENTO designed just for ATCs from 7 Gypsies and Hambly.

So join me over the next couple of months as I explore this tiny world!

From top to bottom:

- 7G ATC tab, 7G printed ATC, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, 7G clip

- "EARTH FIRST, We'll strip mine the other planets later" Renaissance Art Stamps stamp and charm, walnut ink spray, Krylon copper leafing pen, ribbon, staple

- 7G printed ATC, Hambly overlay, Tim Holtz Distress Ink, scrap of patterned paper

- "Very Funny Scotty. Now beam down my clothes" Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist, Crafter's Workshop template, atyou Spica pen

UH-OH! You Spelled it Wrong!

But actually, we didn't. Our name is from the Italian and Spanish for "moment." It also sounds similar to the word "memento," which is an object, like a ticket stub or photo, that you keep to remind yourself of the good times. It's a "two-fer."

To me the word reminds us to pay attention to the little things, to live in the moment and enjoy what we have, rather than thinking of what might have been. It speaks to me about why I scrapbook - to tell my stories to my family, and to remember the little details that add up to so much.

You can "live in the momento," with t-shirts and other items available at Cafepress.
