Craft Super Show

The weekend before last, I went to the Craft Super Show.  I took classes and went to a crop.  I met some very nice ladies that invited me to join them at their great table right at the front by all the action.  Top to bottom, left to right:  Crystal puffy heart and matching earrings that I made at a local store a couple of weeks ago.  Mixed media collage using Makin's Clay.  A lovely lady named Sara taught a cool class at the crop, where we altered a Create and Treasure canvas book using Earth Friendly paints and rubber stamps.  The crystal and gold bead earring were what I worked on during the crop.  The kit came from Beads & Magic Wishes and I bought it at the Gem Faire.  The Boho Bead necklace was a class at the Super Show using beads that are going to be available at Michaels this Spring - love the colors.  The class was chock full of wire wrapping!  Lastly is a crystal puffy heart that I made this weekend using the techniques I learned in the earlier class.

Little Red Riding Hood

My brother gave me this tea set when we were kids. He got it at a church rummage sale and spent more than he'd intended to rather than not get the whole set. I was thrilled with it then, and now it is one of my most precious treasures.

Inauguration Day

My little one was home sick from school, so we watched the inauguration together. Not the way I would have wanted to have his company, but it was nice to watch together.

I looove my 7 Gypsies stamps, so I knew I needed something special to keep them handy in. A search of eBay turned up this antique rotating stamp holder. It's jus tthe thing!

Handmade Oak Shelf

My sweetie built this shelf for me. He took into account the size of my desk at the time, the fact that I needed to fit a computer monitor next to it, and the size of the bins I wanted to keep beneath it, and constructed the shelf using a piece of solid oak and brass screws. He countersunk the screws, carefully sanded the shelf and coated wit with several coats of polyurethane. The finishing touch was felt pads so it wouldn't scratch my desk. He's a very thorough guy, my sweetie.

My Pcoket PC

After I found myself triple booked one day, I knew I had to find a better way to keep track of things, so I bought a Pocket PC from Dell. This is actually my second device. It syncs with my desktop calendar and contacts, plays fun games and even has a reader for ebooks.

Organization

I love my Making Memories lazy susan organizer. It keeps my favorite tools close at hand: Crop-o-dile, Krylon leafing pens, craft mat, red eye pen, photo markign pencils, corner rounders, stapler, scissors, t-square, french curves, and my crafters workshop templates.

The Tivo Guy

I love having little tschotckis on my desk. Daniel gave me the glass elephant. The Tivo guy is actually an antenna topper, so I made him a little stand out of a large paper clip. I adore my Tivo ( we have 2!)

Dumble And Bobo

We spent several hours in "Steve" (see January 4, 2009 post)playing Wii bowling together. Dumble kept us company, rotating amoungst the available laps and playing with his toys.

Great things about Wii bowling at home (as opposed to at the alley):
- no cigarette smoke
- unlimited snacks
- no waiting for the ball return
- comfier seating
- pets allowed

Something you'll never hear at a real bowling alley:
Watch out for the dog!

Open Faced Daniel Sandwich With Puppy Garnish

Dumbledore is constantly washing Dan's face. He'll even put a paw out when Dan squirms, as if to say "hold still you; I'm not finished."

Snowy Night

Experimenting with taking pictures on snow as the sun sets. I was going for melancholy with the photo of the bench. I think it's cool how the snowflakes are more visible when I use the flash. Each photo pair is the same scene with and without the flash.

Dog has Cat-Nap

I tried to catch the dog napping, but his hearing is too good!

The Lizard

Dumble's 2nd favorite toy is the lizard. I brought it home from a business trip (and did I catch it from my hubby for bringing the dog a present!) It has crinkly stuff in the legs and a squeaker in the belly. As you can see by the condition of the tail, it's been well loved. I love the way he rolls down on one shoulder as he chews on it. The hallway is the longest unbroken space in the house, so it's a great place to play fetch.

Winter Beauty

I took this photo of the dogwood in our front yard, through our bay window. I'm so glad I didn't have to go out side to get the shot!!

Bobo

Daniel and I always loved the Petco commercial with "Bobo," where they are looking for a replacement for an adorable dachshund's favorite toy. So as soon as we got Dumbledore, we knew he had to have a Bobo, too.

It's one of Dumble's favorites, especially good for shaking - it's hysterical because alternate ends of the toy hit the ground as he shakes it - thwap, thwap, thwap, thwap, thwap!

Dan's Room is Clean

Today's Project 265 photos are the "after" photos from cleaning out Daniel's room. First the befores:

Now the afters:

We took 17 bags of clothes and toys to GoodWill on Saturday. Granted some of the clothes came from my closet (4 or 5 bags), but there was a lot of stuff in there he was no longer using!

My Craft Room is Called Steve

You might ask, why is my craft room called Steve? We promised Daniel a few years ago that he could have the third bedroom (after his brother moved out) for a video game room. He got a TV for Christmas that year, which is not hooked up to cable, and a TV stand. His Wii and PS2 are hooked up to it and he inherited a beat up recliner from my Aunt via Alex.

Then the store closed and all my craft supplies had to come home. Daniel was very gracious about sharing the space with me and we moved out the recliner (it was falling apart) and moved in a couch and my craft supplies.

So we're trying to figure out what to call the room since it has multiple functions. It's a craft room, an office, a gaming room, a hangout, and even a guest room (Alex slept on the floor in a sleeping bag over Christmas). My husband suggested Fred. Then Daniel said "Steve."

And it stuck.

New Phones

All we wanted to do was find out how much it would cost to get a new battery for Blair's cell phone, because it wouldn't hold a charge any more. But it turned out we were both entitled to an upgrade! So we walked out of the store with two brand new phones for nothing. Of course we had to spring for the bluetooth headsets, but they were a steal at 20 bucks apiece. Ooooh - new technology!

Cozy

Day Two of project 365 for me. I tried to catch my kid unawares as he watched TV.
